The impact gap
Each year, millions die from preventable diseases and face future pandemics and biosecurity threats. Doctors are highly skilled and motivated, but have huge untapped potential to save more lives and reduce future threats to health. A key barrier giving rise to this “impact gap” is the lack of exposure to ideas, networks, and opportunities that would enable more impactful career- and giving-decisions by many medical students and doctors.

Our mission is to guide a global community of doctors and medical students to do more good through high-impact careers and giving.
We aim to be the number one resource for medical students and doctors anywhere who seek guidance to increase their impact on the world’s big health problems. We will set the standard for effective collaboration to achieve common goals with like-minded groups and organizations.
We are dedicated to helping people live out their altruistic values.
How will we achieve our mission?
We will work with medical students and doctors, from all parts of the world, who want to help address the world’s most pressing problems, but are unsure of their best path forward.
We will guide participants online, “medic-to-medic”, to identify their personalized pathways to impact. We will focus our activities in three areas:
Career guidance delivered through our online Career Planning Course, 1:1 career calls, and maintenance of a global community of like-minded medics seeking impact.
The Hi-Med Information Hub of resources to support high-impact career change decision-making, focused on global health, pandemic preparedness and biosecurity, including educational institutions and courses; impactful organizations, think tanks, government departments; and job and volunteering opportunities.
An Effective Giving Hub to encourage and enable members of our community who wish to donate or to pledge a proportion of their income to highly effective charities, through our partner Giving What We Can or other pledge organizations.

Ability to produce and interpret data outputs that hold us accountable to our goals, donors and community, enhance credibility and inform course content and marketing activities.

We will implement systems to ensure the following key processes are achieved:

Build staff and volunteer excellence and wellbeing to strengthen their impact and career growth

Our progress towards achieving our mission will be measured against an extensive list of specific goals for 2025-2026.
